“Citizen Advocate”: Care at home – Who pays the costs for 24-hour intensive care?

On June 8th at 6 p.m. on ORF 2

Vienna (OTS) Peter Resetarits will present the following contributions in the program “Citizen Attorney” on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 6 p.m. on ORF 2:

Care at home – Who pays the costs for 24-hour intensive care?

19-year-old Marco has a serious neurological disease. He repeatedly finds himself in life-threatening situations that require immediate intervention by intensive care trained personnel. Thanks to 24-hour intensive care, Marco can still be at home with his family. It is unclear which social insurance provider will cover the considerable costs. Ombudsman Bernhard Achitz is calling for a nationwide regulation for this and hundreds of similar cases in Austria.

Expensive vaccination: Why is the vaccination against shingles not paid for by the state?

Herpes zoster, also commonly known as shingles, is a painful, contagious disease. You can prevent illness with a vaccination. But the vaccine is very expensive and is not covered by health insurance – although the vaccination is recommended by the Ministry of Health for people aged 50 and over. Ombudsman Bernhard Achitz called for appropriate financial support in December 2023 in “Citizens’ Advocate”. Do they exist now?

Invalid will: Did a notary make a mistake?

Erna S. and her partner lived together in Tyrol for 20 years. In a will, the man stipulated that Ms. S. should have the right to use the house they lived in after his death. At this point he had already passed this on to his son. The notary where the will was drawn up apparently did not notice that his partner wanted to give Ms. S. something that was no longer his. After the death of her partner, his son refused to allow Ms. S. to stay in the house and she then sued the notary for damages. Now there is an astonishing first instance judgment.
