Vienna (OTS) – The sports annual review is as traditional as Christmas – on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 6 p.m. on ORF 1 – presented by Karoline Rath-Zobernig.
At the Alpine and Nordic World Championships, Austria’s athletes remained without a gold medal, but Austria’s snowboard cracks stepped in for them – with world championship titles for Anna Gasser and Andreas Prommegger. In general, it was a sporting year with many positive red-white-red surprises.
For example, the overall World Cup victory of ski jumper Eva Pinkelnig, Felix Gall’s victory in the queen stage of the Tour de France or the world championship title of Anna-Maria and Eirini Marina Alexandri in synchronized swimming. Jakob Schubert became the most successful World Cup climber of all time with two World Championship titles.
The local national soccer team also had a lot to celebrate:
about the successful EURO qualification and most recently about a great 2-0 win over favorite rivals Germany.
