Lower Austria (OTS) Lilienfeld Abbey is only 25 kilometers from St. Pölten. St. Pölten has been declared the state cultural capital for 2024. Lilienfeld Abbey is taking this as an opportunity to highlight its relationship with St. Pölten in a special exhibition this year.

On May 17, 2024, the Special exhibition “St. Pölten and Lilienfeld Abbey” opened. The geographical proximity of Lilienfeld Abbey to the city of St. Pölten has always created a certain connection. This exhibition shows illustrations about historical moments that were very crucial for both the city of St. Pölten and Lilienfeld Abbey. In addition, valuable exhibits from the treasure collection of the Lilienfeld Monastery can be seen, which once belonged to the Canons’ Monastery of St. Pölten and were acquired by the Lilienfeld Monastery after its abolition. These exhibits have never been exhibited before. This exhibition can be viewed as part of a guided tour of the monastery until November 28, 2025.
