“The fact that Vienna was once again voted the most transparent municipality in Austria is no coincidence. With the government monitor, we have created another instrument that makes it possible to monitor and improve the goals we have set ourselves. The Vienna Progress Coalition keeps its promises. Since the start of the red-pink coalition, we have successfully implemented 93.4 percent of the projects or are currently implementing them. Above all, we are setting standards in Vienna – for a good, safe and grandchildren-friendly Vienna,” said Josef Taucher, chairman of the SPÖ club in the Vienna City Hall.

“Transparency is a major concern of the Progress Coalition because people have a right to see what is happening in the city and what is being worked on,” explains Bettina Emmerling, club chairwoman of NEOS Vienna. “With the government monitor, we impressively show that we are implementing projects at an incredible pace and are making Vienna more fit for the future step by step. This progress report underlines our commitment to modern, fair and sustainable urban development.”

New funding guidelines and competence center for inclusion in elementary education – a milestone for equal opportunities

With the newly created funding guidelines and a change in the law to create inclusive places in the area of elementary education, Vienna is committing a paradigm shift and setting a milestone regarding the availability of places for children with disabilities in kindergarten.

With the Competence Center for Inclusion in Elementary Education Vienna also creates a central contact point for the care and education of children with disabilities, impairments or chronic illnesses. The committed and professional team offers information, quality assurance and networking – with the aim of ensuring the participation of all children.

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up and learn together with others – regardless of disabilities. The fact that Vienna is taking a big step forward here is a strong signal for social justice and modern education policy. This means relief for families and real participation and equal opportunities for children,” emphasizes Bettina Emmerling, NEOS Vienna club chairwoman.

The competence center’s offerings include guidelines for creating inclusion concepts, practical advice and a comprehensive support network. In this way, the competence center makes an important contribution to making elementary education sustainable for all children.
