81% of teachers support abolishing the VWA

Due to the rapid developments in the field of AI, Education Minister Polaschek would like to forego the VWA. Teachers are in favor, as an Öbv survey shows.

Vienna (OTS) Since the launch of the generative text tool ChatGPT, students have also been using AI solutions. Since such tools can be used to create comprehensive texts, including a complete VWA, in a very short time, the question arises as to whether this is still useful for testing competencies. In March, the öbv asked this question to 120 teachers who had recently taught high school classes. 81% stated that the VWA should be abolished in view of AI (49.2% yes, 31.7% rather yes).
