74th Berlinale: State Secretary Mayer congratulates Austrian film artists

Mayer: Congratulations to Martin Gschlacht for winning the Silver Bear for “Outstanding Artistic Achievement” and to all other Austrian award winners

Vienna (OTS) “Congratulations on the Silver Bear for an outstanding artistic achievement to cameraman Martin Gschlacht, who is responsible for the image design in the Austrian competition entry ‘Des Teufels Bad’ by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala,” said Art and Culture State Secretary Andrea Mayer. “The particularly strong Austrian presence in Berlin this year is a great pleasure. Austria’s film industry is characterized by innovation, dynamism and extraordinary diversity. This range is also reflected in the award-winning works. The Peace Film Prize awarded at the Berlinale goes to Ruth Beckermann’s new documentary ‘Favoriten’, a long-term portrait of a Viennese school class, which will soon open this year’s Diagonale. Austrian Philipp Fussenegger can also look forward to winning a prize at the Berlinale. Together with director Judy Landkammer, he received this year’s Teddy Award for ‘Teaches of Peaches,’ a music documentary about the singer of the same name.”
“The fact that local works achieve an outstanding international presence and are successful on festival screens worldwide is clear evidence of their originality and high creative standards. I would like to express my greatest appreciation and gratitude to all artists for their contributions and achievements to this success story of Austrian film,” says Art and Culture State Secretary Andrea Mayer happily.
