65th Annual General Meeting of the Glacier Railways Kaprun AG

The board of directors of the tourist manager based in Kaprun reported the shareholders of the company at the 65th ordinary general meeting on April 23 of the extremely successful financial year 2023/24. The period from October 2023 to September 2024 turned out to be “everything. Except for the company.”

Fiscal year 2023/24

Framework
For the first time in the company’s history, the autumn ski company at Kitzsteinhorn was not able to start as usual in October, but only on November 3. The reason for this was the warmest September and October since the start of the measurement records. The winter was all the more gratifying, with consistently excellent snow and slopes. This also appreciated an above -average number of guests, as the frequencies show. Summer was temporarily challenging – with intensive thunderstorm events and violent wind. Especially in August there were very high temperatures up to the top altitude. The summer offer on the two Kapruner Hausbergen was used excellently and delighted numerous guests.

Numbers & conclusion
Despite the late start of the glacier kis season, 1,236,084 guests visited the Kitzsteinhorn and the Maiskogel – only 2.3 percent less than in the previous year. The months of February and March in particular stamped out with the highest level that had previously been unmatched. The altitude and associated snow security as well as outstanding slopes have proven to be special competitive advantages. In the 2023/24 financial year, the Glacier Railways generated sales of 68.5 million euros. This corresponds to an increase of 7.2 percent compared to the previous year: “This success was only possible thanks to the great commitment and professional work of our employees. For this, they deserve a heartfelt thanks and great recognition.” – Thomas Maierhofer, board director of the Glacier Railways Kaprun AG

Construction & investment activities

Street underpass on the Maiskogel
Over the summer months, the Kaprun AG glacier railways built a road underpass at the valley descent on the Maiskogel. Since then, cars have been going under the slopes, which is why snow athletes no longer have to look left and right when crossing Schaufelbergstrasse. For the local family ski area, this means an upgrade on the one hand, and on the other hand a profit in terms of security.

New building Restaurant Gletschermühle
After comprehensive renovation and elaborate renovation of the alpine center, the quality offensive for the Kitzsteinhorn catering goes into the next round: In the summer months, the first construction stage for the new Gletschermühle restaurant was completed and the Upper Eardish origin for autumn and winter operation was restored. The new building is to be built in the summer of 2025 and opened in winter of the same year.

Kitzsteinhorn as an employer

“My job is everything. Usually.”
The fiscal year 2023/24 was particularly important for the Glacier Railways Kaprun AG. On the one hand, this focused on the unique work environment, and on the other hand, the versatile work areas on the Kitzsteinhorn.

Thanks to the extensive snowfall in mid -September, the ski season at the Kitzsteinhorn started in the current financial year 2024/25 on October 5 – around a month earlier than in the previous year. The winter 2024/25 is one of the lowest rainfall and driest winter since the start of the measurement. Regardless of this, the snow and slopes on the Kitzsteinhorn remained excellent.
