5,500 people set signs for a better future in the torchlight procession of socialist youth Vienna!

The torchlight procession of socialist youth Vienna was again a complete success. Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. thousands of people, including many young people, came before the opera. This year’s torchlight procession was under the motto: “Future instead of crisis!”

”The word crisis has become a permanent condition in our world – wherever you look at, we find a new crisis. Climate crisis, inflation, wars, educational crisis, right -wing extremism – the list could just go on and many of you could agree with me – you can no longer hear this word: Because these crises are no fate. They are the result of a system that provides profits over people, concentrated wealth and produces poverty: its roots are in a system in which a few benefit when it is stepped down.”Says Chairman of the Socialist Youth Vienna, Rihab Toumi, at the final rally on Rathausplatz.

“Especially in times when many people turn away from politics when we look at the turnout in the Vienna election – something has to be changed urgently: If only 40 percent of people are voting, it remains unbelievable of a representative democracy. There is an alternative to the audience series. And this alternative is to get up together and fight for a better future. For us it is clear that a better world is possible, which is why we join together, because together we are loud, together we are strong and together we will fight for a world in which these crises do not belong to our everyday life, but can finally all have a good life!”, Says Toumi.
