The Public Relations Association Austria (PRVA) heralded its 50th anniversary with a ceremonial kick-off event at the University of Vienna. Around 120 members and industry college: inside took part to celebrate the development of the public relation industry together and to discuss current and future challenges.
The focus of the evening was the panel discussion “PR yesterday and today. Practice meets science “at the renowned expert: the changes and trends in the industry illuminated inside. Franz Bogner, honorary president and co -founder of the PRVA, emphasized the central role of the association: “Without PRVA, the industry would not be the one that it is today.”
PR between tradition and future
The public perception of public relations was an important topic. Sabine Einwiller, head of the Institute for Publicistics and Communication Science at the University of Vienna, emphasized the international challenges: “Communication research is currently dealing with many different aspects of public relations and explosive sociopolitical topics such as fake news, deep fakes and disinformation.”
Alexander Hoor, company spokesman for Vienna Energie, focused on the importance of coordinated communication: “Integrated communication means that communication measures are consistently coordinated and perceived as a unit about all communication disciplines and channels.”
Networking and impulses for the future
Following the discussion, the anniversary year was officially opened at the traditional New Year’s kick-off. In a relaxed atmosphere, the guests had the opportunity to exchange ideas and make new contacts.
Finally, PRVA President Ingrid Gogl gave the industry important impulses: “Communication: Inside, a solid theoretical foundation needed and should continue to train regularly in order to keep up with new tools and changed framework conditions. Strategic thinking, curiosity, resilience and humor are essential – because everything you do with passion is good. ”
A year full of highlights
The PRVA anniversary year provides numerous events – from lectures to online formats – and offers all members and communicator: inside the opportunity to actively participate and develop.
