A groundbreaking cooperation is agreed that will advance electric, individual and autonomous driving on Vienna’s historic Heldenplatz. This partnership marks a significant step in the integration of cutting-edge technology into one of Austria’s most important historical sites.

The Austrian Castle Authority, which is responsible for the management and preservation of the country’s architectural heritage, has teamed up with the Vienna Electric Days to enable the integration of electrically autonomous vehicles on Heldenplatz. This historic location becomes the scene of innovative mobility solutions that combine tradition with the future.

Through this cooperation, Heldenplatz will become a testing ground for electrically autonomous vehicles, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the historical splendor of Vienna in a modern and sustainable way. The project aims to improve the efficiency of inner-city transport while preserving the historic character of the site.

It is particularly important for the Austrian Castle Authority to contribute more to climate protection, sustainability and the relief of the Hofburg Vienna area with this project: “Traffic and parking issues, as well as the desealing of the soil in Vienna’s city center, are particularly related to the intensive use of the area the Hofburg Vienna is also a current topic for us.
