School, apprenticeship or both? What now? Numerous young people are faced with this future-oriented decision every year. This makes it all the more important to have a good overview of different training paths and offers. Try out careers and gain insights into the working world of the future – this was something that numerous students were able to do again this year at the major career information fair “Future | work | Life” of the AK Niederösterreich. “The demand for well-trained specialists is unbroken and the need for information among young people and parents is particularly great. Our trade fair brings them closer to the variety of careers and further education opportunities at school. It is particularly important to us that the personal strengths and talents of the Leading children and young people to the right training,” said AK Lower Austria President and ÖGB Lower Austria Chairman Markus Wieser, who attended the BO trade fair on the public day with Mayor Mag. Matthias Stadler and State Councilor Mag. Susanne Rosenkranz, AK Niederösterreich deputy director Christian Farthofer and ÖGB NÖ regional manager Linda Keizer visited.
Around 3,500 students from 143 school classes in Lower Austria visited the BO trade fair, which took place for the 15th time this year, over the past three days. On the public day, 1,470 young people and their parents found out about training opportunities at VAZ St. Pölten. The great interest shows the importance of timely and varied career orientation.
Focus on digitalization and VR professional experience
Artificial intelligence (AI), 3D printing, virtual reality (VR) and robots – today’s young people will work in almost every job in the future in a rapidly changing digital work environment. In the world of digitalization, young visitors had virtual reality glasses or 3D printers to try out. “The trade fair offers a wide range of opportunities to familiarize yourself with the digital trends of the world of work 4.0,” says AK Niederösterreich President Markus Wieser.
NOVELTY! At the AK Young trade fair stand, young visitors were able to try out six different professions (carpentry, electrical engineering, retail, automotive mechanics, civil engineering and metal technology) using VR glasses for the first time this year. From assembling a motor and creating a circuit to repairing a wooden chair, the young people were able to test their skills virtually and received interesting information about the respective apprenticeship.
70 exhibitors & free application training
70 exhibitors – including over 50 schools and companies from the region as well as trade union youth, specialist unions, institutions such as the AMS Lower Austria and the police – were happy to welcome the interested visitors. A special highlight of the public day was the free application coaching. Experts and coaches gave tips for the interview, the application and the right outfit and styling. The young people can practice job interviews in a highly professional manner and thus come an important step closer to their dream job.
Career orientation for students in Lower Austria
The career information fair “Future I Work I Life” takes place annually in Bad Vöslau and St. Pölten and is one of the largest events of its kind in Lower Austria. Around two thirds of compulsory school leavers in a year use the fair to obtain information.
TIPP: The sooner the better! On December 6th The AK Kids BO trade fair takes place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m “Professions to attack” for children and their parents at the Wieselburg exhibition center (Hall 9-10). Entry is free.
