The international one GREEN BRANDS Organisation yesterday 44 “green” Austrian companies and products with the GREEN BRANDS Austria Award 2024 excellent. The Austrians were among the over 270 guests at the gala Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler. The ORF presenter led the evening confidently and charmingly Julia Schütze.
With the award GREEN BRAND Austria This is the seventh time since 2012 that personalities, products, foods, services and companies have been honored that demonstrably practice ecological sustainability and therefore deserve a high level of national and international recognition.
GREEN BRANDS thus honors the commitment to climate and environmental protection, sustainability and ecological responsibility.
The following companies and products were recognized and received the seal of quality for the first time GREEN BRAND Austria 2024: BioLifestyle, biologon, BTV Bank, Oberbank, OMNES, PEAST Performance, PLANET PURE and the Lorenz Bahlsen Snack World.
In a complex re-validation process, other brands that had already been identified in an earlier process could also be used GREEN BRANDS Austria were chosen, once again proving that they are still ideally positioned when it comes to sustainability. The following brands and companies received this GREEN BRAND Austria 2024 Seal of quality with one star: A good piece of home from Lidl Austria, EVOLUTION NATURKOSMETIK, Kneipp, NEUNER’S, OTTO Austria.
The following were awarded for the third time after a successful second re-validation:
BIO SONNE, BKS Bank, fair finance, KORA, lavera NATURKOSMETIK, LiGreen, proWIN and Back to the Origin by Hofer.
The three-star quality seal was awarded after the third successful re-validation: Claro, PAPSTAR, SONNBERG and VERIVAL.
The following were awarded for the fifth time after a successful fourth re-validation: AAE, BRAU UNION, GUTENBERG, the company LENZING PAPIER with the paper types IMPACT / Lenza GREEN and WEB Windenergie.
The following were honored for the sixth time: AlmaWin, Klar, PRIMAVERA, RETTER BIO-NATUR-RESORT, the company RIESS KeloMat and the RIESS enamel products.
Last but not least, BERGKRÄUTER, the Biolandhaus Arche, the Druckhaus Schiner as well as Frosch and the VBV Vorsorgekasse have passed the procedure for the seventh time since 2011 after the sixth re-validation.
In addition to these companies and products, another 34 GREEN BRANDS from Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia were honored at the gala.
Peter LieberPresident of the Austrian Trade Association and patron of the GREEN BRANDS Austriaemphasized in his welcoming speech the high significance of the award and the pioneering role that the award-winning brands play in their respective industries.
“I think that we in companies should be aware of the challenge of leaving an Austria and perhaps also a Europe fit for our grandchildren and I’m looking forward to the many awards for sustainable brands this evening.”
Tina Teuchermember of Think Tank 30 of the German Society Club of Rome and GREEN BRANDS juror, presented her newly founded non-profit foundation “Generation Restoration”, with which she has been supporting regenerative solutions in refugee camps since 2023. The vision: Transform refugee camps worldwide from places of lack of prospects, which are currently exacerbating global warming and resource conflicts, into places of regeneration and hope that promote food sovereignty, renewable energies and peace building.
Julian Schüttersuccessful Austrian ski racer and committed climate activist, received the award as “GREEN BRAND Austria Personality 2024“.
The laudator Doris Holler-Brucknereditor-in-chief of “OEKONEWS” emphasized: “I am pleased that there are young people who are committed to the bigger picture, who are standing up for the change that we so urgently need. That is why we are honoring a young man today, who does exactly that and who is simply extraordinary for his age: a person who courageously works for a sustainable future.”

At the celebration the… Austrian Environmental Journalism Prize 2023/2024 awarded in four categories – for the fourth time as part of the GREEN BRANDS-Gala.
The prize is under the patronage of Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewesslerwho praised the work of the committed and independent jury, which is made up of top-class experts.
Gewessler also highlighted the role of environmental journalism in turbulent times like these: “Journalism has an invaluable value for our democracy and our society. It creates publicity – often for things that otherwise remain hidden but deserve our attention. Especially The climate crisis and the biodiversity crisis affect us all and our livelihoods. The award-winning and nominated environmental journalists face this challenge and deal with it in a good, exciting and informative way important topics.”
Gewessler congratulated the nominees and encouraged them to continue on their path with such motivation: “Your reporting is the basis for discussion, for debate, for the exchange of arguments and the basis for every democratic discourse. You are faced with a difficult task: They are anchors and filters in a complex world with confusing challenges. I think this is essential. In this sense, I would like to thank all the nominees and award winners “Because what you do plays an important role at this time.”
