This Friday, February 28, 2025, the military ceremony for taking over the young sergeant took place in Enns to the Bundesheer. 414 non-commissioned officers, including 23 women, have completed their 18-month training. This is 20 percent more non -commissioned officers than last year. The ceremony for the professional and militia soldiers took place in the presence of Secretary General Arnold Kammel, the member of the state parliament Wolfgang Stanek, representing the governor of Upper Austria and general staff General Rudolf Striedinger, on the main square in Enns. Another festive point of the agenda was the promotion of the commander of the army non -commissioned officer academy, Colonel Klaus Klingenschmid, to Brigadier.

“Comradeship, bravery and steadfastness in life -threatening situations – with these properties, the Tyrolean soldier Matthias Osterer had proven itself several times in the First World War. The soldiers of this course selected these characteristics by Matthias Osterer as their personal model. But there are characteristics that are still still considered a model for the entire non -commissioned officer corps, more than a century later. Therefore, I am pleased that as a young – but already experienced – soldiers see it that way. The new non -commissioned officers in the federal states
After one and a half years of training, the decommissioned sergeant assumes responsibility for the group as group commanders in missions at home and abroad and in the training of the recruits of the Federal Army in the various federal states. 324 professional soldiers (21 women) and 90 militia soldiers (two women) passed the final exams of non -commissioned officer training. The previous day, the pattern took place in Enns. 106 of the professional and militia soldiers (including 8 women) come from Lower Austria, followed by Styria with 64 participants (one of them a woman), after which Salzburg rows about 47 (three women), Upper Austria with 45 (four women) and Carinthia with 44 (one woman). Tyrol follows with 21 (two women), the Burgenland receives 17 and Vorarlberg 12 (a woman) young sergeant.

At the main square of Enns, six graduates – four course spokesman, the women’s representative and a representative of the militia – were promoted to the sergeant for all graduates.

The best of the year comes from Salzburg from Salzburg Military Music. Wachtmeister Cornelia Urban achieved eight awards.

Secretary General Arnold Kammel presented the Golden Huak-Ring to the best of the course as a visible sign for the excellent performance.

Tint name: train leader Matthias Osterer (1893 – 1930)

The graduates of the 8th squad attendant training chose “train leader Matthias Osterer” as the year name. Matthias Osterer moved to the KUK Infantry Regiment No. 59 in Salzburg in 1914, was initially set up and convened in Wels to the state rifle regiment no.i in May 1915. He served on the southern front and received all bravery medals for his operations, including the golden for his commitment to Monte Fontana Secca, southwest of Feltre, on November 21, 1917.
