33. Vienna New Year’s Eve trail comes to an end: Positive balance

Vienna (OTS) –

The 33rd Vienna New Year’s Eve Trail came to an end in these minutes.
Just over 800,000 visitors braved the cold and were counted along the stages in the city center and in Vienna’s Prater in the last twelve hours.

The outcome of Austria’s largest New Year’s celebration is therefore extremely positive: the organizer did not report any notable incidents, the mood of the many guests at the event was consistently positive, and the situation along the eight stages was generally quiet.

As in previous years, this time there was a joint operations center organized by the city of wien marketing gmbh, in which, in addition to the organizer, the police, fire brigade, rescue, medical service, Wiener Linien and other relevant organizations and authorities worked side by side.

40 security barriers in front of the actual event site controlled the influx and were gradually closed as planned later in the evening, meaning that access to the New Year’s Eve path was only possible via seven previously communicated entrances.

At around 11.40 p.m., all seven locations in Vienna’s city center as well as the stage at the winter market on Riesenradplatz in the Prater were at full capacity, so that subsequent visitors could no longer be admitted.
