32nd Vienna New Year’s Eve Trail attracted more than 800,000 visitors

Vienna (OTS) The 32nd Vienna New Year’s Eve Trail is coming to an end in these minutes, at 2 a.m. Just over 800,000 visitors from Vienna and all over the world have rung in the New Year in the past few hours at a total of eight locations in the city center and in the Prater. The New Year’s Eve Trail is thus building on its successful result from the previous year and is once again one of the largest New Year’s Eve celebrations in Europe.

This time the locations included the Rathausplatz, the Freyung, the Am Hof square, the Graben, the Stephansplatz, the Kärtner Straße, the Neuer Markt and the winter market at Riesenradplatz in the Prater. The varied, entertaining and more than 80-hour stage program began at 2 p.m., and more than two dozen restaurateurs had been taking care of the guests’ physical well-being since 11 a.m.

Due to the large number of people, the entire event area had to be closed at around 11:20 p.m. Further, subsequent visitors could no longer be admitted.

No start into the new year without a New Year’s concert

Anyone who wants to welcome the new year in a “classic” way can look forward to a special encore: the traditional New Year’s concert by the Vienna Philharmonic, this year under the direction of Christian Thielemann, will be played live from the Musikverein to the Stephansplatz and Wintermarkt am Riesenradplatz stages from 11.15 a.m broadcast in the Prater.
For this purpose, the restaurants in the Graben – Stephansplatz – Kärnterstraße area are open on New Year’s Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
