NEOS Vienna, as a driving force behind the transparency reform of the progress coalition, legally anchored that parties must disclose their preliminary election advertising costs a week before the election day.
“Our goal was and is to give citizens an overview of the finances before the election so that they can make a qualified election decision,” emphasizes NEOS Vienna State Managing Director Philipp Kern.
NEOS now consistently follow this own claim and publish its provisional expenses – already made and still planned – for the Vienna election campaign 2025. The amount is 2,803,546.20 euros – thus significantly below the statutory upper limit of five million euros and within the three million communicated during the election campaign.
This publication takes place within the framework of the transparency reform that NEOS Vienna initiated, decided and legally anchored as part of the progress coalition itself. In the event of exceeding and non-publication, clear legal consequences apply.
“We promised this transparency and not only kept this promise, but also anchored in law. With around 2.8 million euros, we are even below the originally communicated three million. Anyone who advertises in a democracy must also be willing to act openly and in accordance with the rules. I also expect this openness from all other parties,” said Kern in conclusion.
With the publication of her editions, Neos Vienna show that transparency is not a gesture, but lived political attitude and a central pillar of a fair and modern democracy.
