New traffic measures from the City of Vienna – road management and road construction from July 12, 2024
Vienna (OTS) – Construction work by the City of Vienna – road administration and road construction has been underway since April 16th for the redesign of Universitätsstrasse between Ring and Landesgerichtsstrasse and Alser Strasse between Landesgerichtsstrasse and Wickenburggasse in the 1st, 8th and 9th districts. A new construction phase begins on the night of July 11th to 12th.
Traffic measures from July 12th
– At the intersection of Universitätsstraße, Währinger Straße, Maria-Theresien-Straße and Schottengasse, all turning options for motorized traffic will be available again from July 12th.
– It is possible to cross Universitätsstraße from Ebendorferstraße straight ahead towards Rooseveltplatz and turn right towards Schottentor.
– It is possible to cross Universitätsstrasse from Garnisongasse into Landesgerichtsstrasse.
– From the Street of the Eighth Mai there is a left-turn lane towards Schottentor and a right-turn lane towards Rooseveltplatz. Landesgerichtsstraße can be reached from this direction via Rooseveltplatz, Frankgasse and Garnisongasse – Alser Straße via Rooseveltplatz, Frankgasse and Haulerstraße.
– The one-way lane in Liebiggasse will be temporarily reversed between Landesgerichtsstraße and Rathausstraße in the direction of Rathausstraße. Rathausstrasse becomes a temporary dead end and the section of Rathausstrasse between Liebiggasse and Universitätsstrasse can only be reached via Liebiggasse.
Redirection of bicycle traffic
Out of town: at the intersection of Schottengasse/Maria-Theresien-Straße via the Sigmund-Freud-Park and further along Alser Straße in the direction of Riemen.
Towards the city, a temporary footpath and cycle path is available on Alser Straße between Altes AKH and Garnisongasse on the Frankhplatz side. From Garnisongasse, the existing diversion route on Landesgerichtsstraße can be used or alternatively from Rooseveltplatz in a direction out of town or towards the inner city via the existing cycle path on Ebendorferstraße.
