Rural youth from Lower Austria and Upper Austria collected together for light into the dark and handed over a new record donation of 115,280 euros in Bad Ischl.
Bad Ischl/Linz/St. Pölten (OTS) – After the cooperation between the Rural Youth of Lower Austria and the Rural Youth Young Farmers’ Association of Vorarlberg worked very well last year, this year we again worked together across state borders. More than 200 rural youth groups in Lower and Upper Austria took part in this year’s fundraising campaign.
Christmas cookies in a country youth design
Most of them collected donations by lending a hand and baking kilos of cookies, which were delivered to women and men in exchange for voluntary donations. As an incentive, the rural youth groups were provided with a Linzer-Eyen cookie cutter in a rural youth design. “We would like to thank you for the incredible commitment and motivation of our rural youth members. So many people contributed to this fantastic donation. Thank you for your commitment!” said the regional director of the Upper Austrian rural youth, Brigitte Meingassner. “The Ö3 Christmas Miracle is a great conclusion every year and shows what we can achieve together. Since 2017, we as rural youth have been able to donate around 440,000 euros to families in need. Many thanks to everyone who took part in this!” says Anja Bauer, regional director of the Lower Austrian rural youth, in the same vein.
Great atmosphere at the handover
For the handover to the presenter trio Gabi Hiller, Andi Knoll and Robert Kratky, members from both federal states traveled to Bad Ischl to be there live in front of the glass dream hut. Due to the weather, the area directly in front of the hut had to be closed, but the country young people also created a great atmosphere from a distance. As usual, the requested song was the rural youth anthem “We are there!”, which was sung along loudly by the members present and probably also by many at home.
Rural youth traditionally take part in the Ö3 Christmas miracle
With €115,280, the rural youth made the largest donation in the history of the Ö3 Christmas miracle. Since 2017, the country’s largest youth organization has been taking part in the Ö3 Christmas Miracle again and again to support those people in Austria who are not having such an easy time at the moment. In total, around €440,000 has been donated to families in need in Austria over the years. The rural youth of Upper Austria took part for the second time, the rural youth of Lower Austria for the fifth time.
The most active youth organization in rural areas
“We actively shape our living environment!” – This is the guiding principle followed by over 43,000 young people who work in around 530 LJ groups throughout Upper and Lower Austria. This makes the rural youth organization the most active youth organization in rural areas in both federal states.
The rural youth groups design an extensive program that ranges from further training to sports and leisure activities, personality development, agricultural topics and active participation in cultural and community events in the communities. In their daily actions, they attach great importance to equality between men and women (equal dual leadership for decades) and the sustainable treatment of our environment.
